We build athletic fields for a living, and a play area or dog park gets the same base work: graded, compacted and drained before any turf goes down.
Grass, mulch, wood chips or worn rubber are dug out and hauled away.
Crushed rock is graded so water drains away, compacted so it won't shift or sink under traffic, and covered with a weed barrier.
A cushioned pad under the turf where kids climb and play, chosen for the fall height of the equipment above it. Dog parks skip the pad and get a base built to drain.
Chosen for the space: soft turf for play areas, pet turf with a drain-through backing for dog parks. We install turf from suppliers including Superior Turf, Rymar Turf and TurfHub.
Rolls are joined so the seams disappear, and the edges are secured along borders, posts, fences and gates so nothing lifts or becomes a trip spot.

Yes, when it's built right. Under play equipment we install a shock pad chosen for the fall height of the equipment above it, with soft turf and infill on top. Our builds meet ASTM safety standards, and the surface stays even, with no mulch kicked out from under the swings and no ruts worn into the dirt.
Yes. We remove the old surface, build a graded and drained base, add the shock pad where it's needed, and install the turf. Your play equipment can usually stay where it is, and we fit the turf and edges around the posts.
Dog park turf uses a backing that lets urine drain straight through, over a rock base built to drain and rinse clean, with infill made for pet areas. Regular rinsing and a maintenance plan with odor treatment keep a busy dog park fresh. Plans start at $0.35 per square foot.
Yes, turf gets hotter than grass in direct summer sun. Shade over play areas, the right turf and infill, and a quick rinse on the hottest days all help. We'll talk through sun and shade on the site visit.
Yes. We schedule the work around when the space is in use, like school breaks, before opening or slower days, and keep the work area closed off while we're there. You'll get the schedule with your quote.
Two warranties. Our workmanship is covered for 1 year, and the turf manufacturer's warranty runs up to 25 years, separate from ours. We're fully insured on every install.
