Field builds

Two ways to a turf field

Whether you're starting with a grass field or open land, we build it into a finished turf field for baseball or softball.

Grass Field to Turf

Already have a grass field? We take out the sod, prepare the ground and install game turf, so the field you already own becomes one you can play on every day.

Raw land to turf

New Field from Raw Land

Starting with open land? We build the whole field: the site work, the layout and the turf, from bare ground to the first pitch.

  • New fields
  • Baseball and softball

Already on turf and the infield is worn out? You may only need a new infield.

Have a field in mind?

Why turf

Why programs move to turf

A turf field changes how often your teams get on the field and how much time your staff spends taking care of it.

  • Back on the field after rain

Turf drains after rain, so you lose fewer practices and games.

  • The same field every day

A turf field plays the same from the first practice of the season to the last game.

  • Less field prep

No dragging, watering or lining the infield before every practice and game.

  • No mowing or mud

The mowing, watering and mud that come with grass go away, along with the water bills.

How a field build works

From first call to first pitch

One company runs the project from start to finish. We take the stress of getting the field built off your plate, so you can focus on serving athletes.

  1. First call

Tell us about your program and your site, and whether the field is for baseball, softball or both.

  2. Design

We plan the field around your program: the layout, where the infield, mound and bullpens go, and what turf goes where.

  3. Site work

On raw land, the ground is cleared and prepared. On a grass field, the sod comes out first.

  4. Turf

Game turf goes in, from suppliers including Superior Turf, Rymar Turf and TurfHub.

  5. Mound, bullpens and cages

A game turf mound, Portolite mounds and mats for the bullpens, and batting cages with nets from Cimarron Sports, if your program wants them.

  6. First game

Your teams take the field. One company handled it from start to finish.

FAQ

Turf field construction questions

Have a question that isn't here?

What does a turf field build include?

Everything from the ground up. On raw land, that means the site work, the field layout and the turf. On a grass field, we take out the sod and prepare the ground before the turf goes in. We can also add a game turf mound, bullpens with Portolite mounds and mats, and batting cages with nets from Cimarron Sports, so the whole field comes from one company.

How much does it cost to build a turf baseball field?

It depends on the size of the field, whether we start from raw land or an existing grass field, the condition of the site, the turf you choose and what you add, like a mound, bullpens or cages. Every field is custom, so we quote yours from your site and your plans. The quote is free.

How long does a field build take?

It depends on the scope. Converting an existing grass field is a smaller job than building a new field from raw land, and site conditions and weather play a part. Ask for a quote and we'll give you a timeline for your field.

Should we go with turf or keep grass and dirt?

A turf field plays the same every day, drains after rain so you lose fewer practices and games, and removes the mowing, watering, dragging and lining that grass and dirt need. Grass and dirt cost less up front, and some programs prefer how they play. If you're weighing the two, we'll walk through what each means for your field, your schedule and your budget.

Do you build softball fields too?

Yes. We build turf baseball and softball fields, and we lay out each one for the game your teams play.

Our field is already turf. Do we need a full rebuild?

Not always. If the infield is worn but the rest of the field is in good shape, an infield turf replacement may be all you need. We remove the worn infield turf and replace it with new game turf. Call us and we'll talk through what your field needs.

Do you build fields for schools and ISDs?

Yes. We build for athletic directors, coaches and districts. Our builds meet ASTM safety standards, and we're fully insured.

What warranty comes with a turf field?

Two separate warranties. Our workmanship is covered for 1 year. The turf and products carry the manufacturer's warranty, up to 25 years depending on the product.

Where do you build fields?

Anywhere in Texas, from our home base in Fort Worth, including the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We also take field projects in surrounding states.
